Role Summary:

This is a senior technologist role responsible for driving the end to end technology strategy and delivery for MetLife Japan working in partnership with business and technology leadership locally and globally.  

Key Responsibilities:

The role is responsible for

•    Creating the technology strategy and roadmap and driving the transformation of technology to enable the Digital Transformation of MetLife Japan businesses
•    Driving the delivery of business driven technology initiatives, reliable and stable platforms that are crucial for the realization of MetLife Japan business priorities 
•    Driving the decisions and implementation of architecture and technology stack including the adoption of cloud, AI/data and relevant emerging technology that is fit-for-purpose, simplification, and modernization of the technology footprint
•    Driving the change in the way-we-work including the adoption of Agile practices not just in technology but across the businesses
•    Attracting, managing and motivating technology talents based in Japan and India, providing superior employee care and engineering experience
•    Coaching and mentoring next generation leaders and creating an inclusive and diverse team  
•    Managing key strategic vendor partners to deliver the tech outcomes
•    Managing the budget, risks and control matters including compliance to regulatory requirements
•    Collaborating with key business, operations, control and risks stakeholders to provide the wholistic technology services to the business.  
•    Accountable to the regulator for the compliance of relevant regulatory obligations

Essential Experience and Skills:

•    Bilingual Japanese and English speaker
•    15 – 20+ plus years of experience, preferably in driving organization transformation in insurance / financial services or technology domains 
•    Experience managing big technology teams based in multiple countries in a highly regulated industry 
•    Strong experience driving digital transformation especially people and cultural transformation including Agile way of working 
•    Proven track record in partnering with the business to deliver mission critical transformation including in architecting and developing mission critical applications from scratch in a complex and regulated environments 
•    Proven track record of building collaborative partnerships and ability to operate effectively in a global environment
•    Ability to influence and help communicate the organization’s direction and ensure results are achieved
•    Managing and communicating with regulators as necessary
•    Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
•    Demonstrates strength in strategic thinking, identifying and managing key business issues and opportunities, creating business strategies, and driving results across diverse internal teams and/or external partners.
•    Experience developing and implementing modern technology stack and patterns including cloud native patterns, public cloud, AI/Big Data, Blockchain, API and web/mobile apps 
•    Entrepreneurial in mindset, great analytical and creative problem solving skills
•    Can-do attitude and ability to work in a fast paced environment
